How did Owlets & Co. come to be?
Great question! As we are putting the finishing touches on our first children’s book, Who’s That I Hear, we felt called to further address challenges affecting families during this extended time of pandemic and remote learning. As a mother of three, grandmother (Mimi) of 9, and former pre-k teacher, I thought back to the influence shows like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood had in my own children’s lives.
What if? What if we created a website where children could stop by and feel safe, supported, seen, and inspired; where we would take kids by the hand and virtually lead them out into this big, beautiful world to have experiences they might not have otherwise. To give them access to games and activities that would keep them happily occupied while parents took a breather.

DJ Hill
Author of Who’s That I Hear? and Mother Owl of Owlets & Co.
Who? Who? It’s DJ! Mom, Mimi, and former pre-k teacher. I recently moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico with my husband Bob and our Australian Labradoodle, Hazel Grace. I loved to read when I was young and always dreamed of writing a book. My favorite was Flip, about a foal afraid to jump over the brook. Every time he tried, splash, he fell in. Julie lives in Vail, Colorado with her husband Chris and adopted pup, Rocker. She is a visual artist, illustrator, wedding officiant, and former coffee shop owner. You could call her a Jill-of-all-trades. When Julie was a kid, her favorite show was Gigglesnort Hotel, which inspired her to follow her dream to become an artist. Dave Taylor
Creator/producer of Owlets & Co. theme song
Dave is a media producer and owner of Cool Brick Studios and Stop Drop and Roll Productions in Carbondale, CO. He has produced music for top talent in all genres and his third feature-length documentary, Mark of the Jaguar (shot in Brazil). is set for release in the spring of 2021.
Alyssa Ohnmacht
Graphic Designer
Alyssa brings her love of layout & design, book production, and working with authors to her business, Light of the Moon, Inc. She collaborated with DJ on both her first book, Homespun Mercies, and this book, Who’s That I Hear?

Christine is a website designer/developer and owner/everything of So It Goes Design, which specializes in design for writers, artists, bloggers, all kinds of creative types. She loves writing and reading, cooking, watching her stories, and thinks fondly about Little Bear and his trip to the moon every day. She lives in Southern California with her mom/roommate, Vicki Jean, and her cat/roommate, Jezebel Jean Beyoncé.
